The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry announces the launch of the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre (arbitrateAD), an international arbitration hub based in Abu Dhabi. Set to replace the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC) from February 1, 2024, arbitrateAD aims to establish Abu Dhabi as a regional and global center for efficient and transparent dispute resolution.

Key Points:

  1. Governance Transition: arbitrateAD will replace ADCCAC in administering dispute resolution services, emphasizing principles of impartiality, independence, transparency, and efficiency.
  2. Leadership: His Excellency Abdulla Mohamed Al Mazrui, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will serve as arbitrateAD’s Chairman of the Board, with Gary Born as Vice Chairman.
  3. Court of Arbitration: Maria Chedid, global co-chair of Arnold & Porter’s international arbitration practice group, has been appointed as the President of the Court of Arbitration. The court’s mandate will be independent from the board.
  4. Executive Director: Kristin Campbell-Wilson, former Secretary General of the SCC Arbitration Institute, has been appointed as the Executive Director of arbitrateAD, responsible for its operations.
  5. Commitment to Excellence: The launch aims to position Abu Dhabi as a world-class arbitration hub, upholding the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and impartial dispute resolution.
